Metal findings

The term ‘findings’ refers to any metal in jewellery- including things like clasps and earring hooks.

All metal findings used are silver plated. Please contact for alternative colours, platings, or metals.

Thread

All thread used for any jewellery, unless otherwise specified, is thermally bonded, interwoven thread. Essentially, this means that it is strong, and can hold up to 10lbs of force without snapping.

Things to consider:

This thread does not hold a shape- it will hang differently to metal cord, which holds a more rounded shape.

I find it to be the softest material to make jewellery out of- the final product will be more bendy than any other material.

If ordering a custom necklace, I cannot use this for pieces with big waves in (like shown below). It doesn’t hold its shape enough to create these waves.

Metal cord

This holds more of a rounded shape for a simple necklace than thread. It is strong, and most suitable for fun designs you want to stand up- like the necklace with waves shown above. The wire is stainless steel, coated in nylon.

Bangle bracelet wire

Silver plated wire with minimal flexibility. These will bend to allow you to get them on or off, but will hold a rigid round shape like a bangle.

Things to consider:

These come in standard sizing- due to the firm nature of the wire, I can’t make pieces larger or smaller.

Glass Beads

All beads I use, unless otherwise stated, are glass beads.

These come under two categories ‘Czech glass beads’, and ‘glass beads’.

Czech glass beads are known for their high quality.

Despite what you might think, glass beads are very strong, and much more resistant to damage than other materials, such as acrylic or other plastics. The glass gives a glossy or sparkly finish, depending on the cut.
